PledgeBank is a British website which runs pledges on all topics, of the form: "I will do x if y people agree to do the same." It was founded by mySociety and went live June 13, 2005.
Notable organisations promoted or started by pledges on PledgeBank include the seed funding for the UK Open Rights Group and publicity and legal funding for the NO2ID campaign.
Other creative efforts to raise money for charity are presented. For example, one pledge seeks financing for the World Series of Poker, with a portion of the potential winnings going to a non-profit charity.
Furthermore, it has been utilized to drum up global support for online protests, most recently by Freeculture.org to boycott CDs with DRM.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair has recently started a pledge himself, to become patron of a community sports club if 100 notable figures will do the same.
Examples of a successful pledges include the current NOMEDIA campaign started by Graham Woods. He pledges to completely boycott all forms of media for two weeks as long as 10 other people do the same, and the textbook for Africa project started by Darren Grover

外国人可以pledge，因为他们有信仰，就像手放在圣经上一样，不能对上帝撒谎。而现今的中国还有什么信仰？可能只有金钱了吧。不管怎样，我希望中国也能出来这样的一个网站。

实际上，“现今的中国”并不像我们所想象的那样“可能只有金钱了”，这并不是事实。
事实是，有一部分人（虽然这部分人的数量看起来极少），正在做着真正不仅仅基于金钱的考虑的事情。这里有一本书《如何改变世界：社会企业家与新思想的威力》，有许多人看了评论以后在留言，也有许多人被吸引了想去看这本书，这些的“微影响”正在网络空间里起着类似的作用。
